Headaches

Cluster - precursors: allergy-type symptoms - runny nose, watery eyes
Hypertension - increased blood pressure to the head
Migraine - precursors: nausea, flashing lights; in children: seizures or lapses in consciousness
Stress/Eyestrain - muscle tension/spasms

Decrease pain and muscle spasm
Equalize blood flow into the rest of the body

Heart and Circulatory Conditions

Angina - pain during exertion due to reduced blood flow to the coronary arteries (precursor to heart attack)
Atherosclerosis - clogging of the arteries
Congestive Heart Failure - heart's inability to pump blood through the arteries and veins
Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction) - obstruction of blood flow to the coronary arteries
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) - increased pressure due to constriction of the arteries
Phlebitis - clotting in the blood vessels, most commonly in the legs
Stroke (Cerebral Vascular Accident) - clot blocks the blood vessels in the head
Varicose Veins - back-up of blood due to the breakdown of the valves in the veins

Increased relaxation and normalization of blood flow
(for Stroke) Decreased muscle spasm and flaccidity

NOTE: Clients cannot receive massage if they are experiencing any of the above conditions without receiving medical care FIRST! These are serious medical conditions and always require some form of medical attention before massage can be given.

Herpes

Virus which resides in the mouth and genital regions, causing sores.
Decrease stress
Increase immune response

NOTE: Clients with herpes should wait until their sores are healed before scheduling their appointment to prevent further spread to both the client and the therapist.

Hepatitis (A, B, C, D, E)

Illness which attacks the liver.
Decrease toxins and stress
